Collector built friendships all over the world when amassing a record of two centuries of mining equipment

Among the most coveted of all the standard Chinese export porcelain designs is the so-called ‘Rockefeller’ pattern or Palace ware.

An unusual lot offered in the Fine Silver sale at Anderson & Garland (25% buyer’s premium) in Newcastle upon Tyne was a ‘pair’ of oval teapots and stands modelled as staved barrels: one a ‘period’ example with marks for John Harris, London 1786, the other by early Victorian maker John Terry (London 1838).

“We regrettably had to cancel our Great North Decorative Antique Fair at Newcastle Racecourse at the end of August and we won’t be running the third we had announced as being held on November 14 and 15. This is due to issues at the course and it’s such a shame as they have been a big success,” said organiser Ken Besford of Durham Promotions NE.
