Every year Asian Art in London presents two awards for the most outstanding work of art: one for an item offered by a dealer, the other for a work offered by an auction house. The awards are co-sponsored by Antiques Trade Gazette and Apollo magazine.

Thousands of items are available to buy from dealers online. Here we pick out one that caught our eye this week.

The most important example of Qing glassware to appear at auction sold for HK$180m (£18m) – the highlight of Sotheby’s recent series in Hong Kong.

Michaela Millard of Rafael Fairs launched a monthly vintage and retro fleamarket at Chepstow Racecourse in Monmouthshire in August, and the next is on Sunday, October 20.

MADAM – what a surprise to read auctioneer Gary Watson’s letter (ATG No 2411) which advocated disposing of all deceased property and estate through the medium of a public auction.

Catalogued as ‘witch’ mirrors, this c.1970 pair certainly charmed bidders at Dorchester auction house Duke’s (25% buyer’s premium). The key was the signature Line Vautrin, ROI for the Parisienne designer and decorative artist Line Vautrin (1913-97).

Always popular items, a Georgian lead cistern offered at Summers Place Auctions (25% buyer’s premium) was also rare in being circular. Usually they are rectangular, having stood against a wall connected to downpipes.
