Qianlong masterworks or honorific doppelgangers?

The unusual Chinese porcelain model (pictured below) forms the shape of a lingzhi stem vividly enamelled with a blend of green, blue and pink glazes. It measures 9in (23cm) high and carries a Qianlong (1736-95) mark.

Matthew Foster’s Art Deco Gallery has traded from Grays Antique Centre for the past four years. Having worked with his parents, Portobello Road market traders in the 1980s, Foster launched his business in 1987 and trades in Art Deco period objets d’art and jewellery. Next month he opens a shop at 11 Cecil Court in central London.
