In our continuing series looking through the keyhole of ‘bricks and mortar’ shops in 2017, ATG talks to Glenn Lawrence of Harp and Rose Antiques, which opened in May 2013 and specialises in early English porcelain and ceramics. It also stocks period furniture, clocks, glass, jewellery and more.

Next up from Cooper Events is the Pavilions of Harrogate Decorative Antiques & Fine Art Fair, from November 17-19 at the Great Yorkshire Showground. The final edition of Cooper’s three annual Harrogate fairs, it hosts a total of 43 dealers.

Running from November 10-12 on the outskirts of Perth, The Scone Palace Antiques & Fine Art Fair hosts many Scottish dealers. Among them, Carse Antiques brings a selection of furniture and fellow specialists Cathedral Antiques as well as Hilary Farquharson, who will offer antiquarian books.

In our continuing series looking through the keyhole of ‘bricks and mortar’ shops in 2017, ATG talks to Patrick Sandberg, owner of the eponymous shop specialising in English furniture and works of art. Sandberg is one of the dealers exhibiting at the Winter Art & Antiques Fair Olympia (October 31-November 5).

Cornelia Perquin of Precious Flora deals in floral vintage and antique jewellery. She stands at art and antique shows as well as floral events. Her next event is the 'Winter Art & Antiques Fair Olympia'.

Albert Irvin (1922-2015) is known as one of the few UK artists to work in abstract expressionism and his paintings are popular among collectors and the public.

The third and final Decorative Antiques and Textiles Fair of 2017 produced some significant sales in decorative furniture and beyond. Many pieces ticketed for five-figure sums found buyers during the event’s six-day run (October 3-8).

“I was astonished by the group, both in terms of their individual quality and how cohesive the collection was,” says Waterhouse & Dodd’s Jamie Anderson, who earlier this year went to see a private collection of works by David Bomberg (1890-1957).

'50 Shades of Brown – By George We’ve Got It!', the exhibition at WR Harvey Antiques from November 4-12, might be less titillating than its near-namesake novel – but no matter.

Austin Desmond Fine Art, the Modern British gallery across from London’s British Museum, is currently showing 'Keith Vaughan: On Pagham Beach, Photographs and Collages from the 1930s' (until December 8).

Dealers head for London looking for some pre-Christmas cheer.

“Winter Olympia falls at a time of year when it isn’t competing with 1001 other fairs and provides a good opportunity for pre-Christmas shopping,” says James Manning of Manning Fine Art.

Gary Sutcliffe of Sutcliffe Galleries, Harrogate, is exhibiting at the Northern Antiques Fair (October 19-22).

More than 30 dealers will stand at the next Galloway Antiques Fair at Cowdray House in West Sussex from October 20-22.

Hot on the heels of the stands being packed away at the first Olympia Antique Arms Fair – held on September 30 – the date for the second has now been announced.
