Tate, Tate Gallery

The Tate Gallery is a network of international and British contemporary art museums, including Tate Britain, Tate Modern (both in London) Tate St Ives and Tate Liverpool.

The gallery was founded in 1897 under the name the National Gallery of British Art. It was renamed the Tate Gallery in 1932 after the sugar magnate Henry Tate of Tate & Lyle.
