Great Western Auctions

Founded in 1989 by well known auctioneer Anita Manning and her daughter Lala Manning, Great Western Auctions is a saleroom in Glasgow. The firm’s first premises were in the West End of the city but it has since moved twice and is now located on Glasgow’s Dumbarton Road.

The auction house has appeared in many TV shows including Flog It!, Bargain Hunt and Cash in the Attic. Its roster includes regular antiques and collectables sales, quarterly fine art and antiques auctions and a variety of specialist sales.

Eros and the grasshopper

This Grand Tour-era ring sold at Great Western Auctions (20% buyer’s premium) in Glasgow features an unusual banded carnelian intaglio carved with a putti holding the leg of a large grasshopper.

Vase is a Medici marvel

From the same source which provided Sotheby’s success with a fine collection of Scottish Colourist works (ATG No 2347), a large late 19th version of the Medici Vase led the two-day Glasgow sale at Great Western Auctions (23% buyer’s premium).
