Ewbank's

Ewbank’s is a Surrey auction house which specialises in sales of jewellery, silver, watches, clocks, fine art, antiques and instruments. They also hold dedicated sales have included Asian art, 20th Century art and entertainment memorabilia.

Ewbank’s was founded by Chris Ewbank in 1990 in Guilford and has continued to be run as a family firm. The company conducted the sale of the Robertson Collection of items from the studio of Francis Bacon.

A diamond house call in Taunton

A collection of diamond jewellery attracted international competition at Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s (19.5% buyer’s premium) June sale in Taunton. The cache of pre-war jewels was consigned following a house call by gemmologist and valuer Richard Slater. “It was a wonderful selection of jewellery. The owner had great taste,” he said.

Thumb nails Hawkings at four figures

Bearing a thumbprint on the title-page – along with a note by a secretary, Susan Macey, witnessing it as genuine – a 1988 UK edition of Stephen Hawking’s A Brief of History of Time… was estimated at £200-400 but sold for £3000 in a May 30 sale.
