Main Purpose / Scope of the role:
• Proactively source goods for sale and when talking to/visiting clients be aware of opportunities for other departments also.
• Cataloguing and photographing goods for sale (print quality images are taken by our professional photographer).
• Provide accurate valuations for sale or other professional purposes.
• Establish new and maintain existing client relationships.
• Monitor and respond to electronic valuation enquiries.
• Work collaboratively to produce industry leading sale catalogues.
• Continue to grow and expand knowledge of specialist subject.
• Assist in the organisation and running of valuation and consignment days in Cambridge, London and around the region.
• Collaborate with the Head of Jewellery to develop and grow the wider department.
What will it take to be successful?
• Previous experience in an auction house environment is desirable.
• Ability to accurately catalogue, authenticate and value silver, and ideally with some knowledge of watches and/or jewellery - other areas of knowledge may be advantageous.
• Professional qualifications are desirable.
• Ability to deal with clients courteously and professionally.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Full driving license and use of own vehicle which is insured for business use.
