Chinese Works of Art
This sector comprises art and antiques from China including works from the Han, Tang, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties.
There is a market for pieces of all ages and rarity from ancient Neolithic jades right up to ceramics made in the Republic era. The increased interest and purchasing power from Mainland China since the late 1990s has led to a significant rise of prices.

‘Dragon’ charger flexes its wings
07 October 2019A generation ago pieces such as this splendid 20in (50cm) famille rose ‘dragon’ charger from the Guangxu period (1874-1908) were valued chiefly as decorative objects. However, appreciation of the best quality porcelain produced in the last years of the Qing continues to grow.

22 July 2019A pair of 20ct gold wedding boxes dating from the late Qing period is on offer (one shown here). Both are embossed with the 12 symbols of the Chinese zodiac with the lids decorated with the sign of the Dragon and the Rabbit identifying each marriage partner.
