UK museums urged to raise £4.5m to buy Renaissance masterpiece to ‘save it for the nation’

The government has issued a temporary export block on an early 16th century sculpture in the hope a UK museum will be able to raise the £4.5m needed to keep it in the country. 18 September 2026
